Heidi Leavitt

Born and raised in Moapa, NV, Heidi Leavitt has always loved the area.  Her parents are Richard Lewis and Melanie Bishop Lewis.  She married her high school sweetheart, Lane Leavitt, and they raised seven children (six boys and one girl).  They have been married for 34 years and currently have twelve grandchildren.

In 1999, they moved from Moapa to Alamo, NV, and then returned to Moapa in 2022.

Heidi is a member of Moapa Valley Art Guild (MVAG), where she enjoys rubbing shoulders with fellow artists.

When her youngest child entered kindergarten, Heidi had a bit more time for herself and realized she had a strong interest in Fine Art.  She began taking acrylic lessons from Jon McNaughton in Provo, Utah.  Next came freelance art work.  She feels this was the beginning of painting professionally.  Her work included business signs, book illustrations, woodburning, murals on school walls, and portraits of people.  After about four years of working with acrylics, Heidi began working with oils.  She teamed with her grandfather, Paul Lewis, to paint the large auditorium mural at OLSHACS.

She sought out oil painting classes from Dan Wilson in Lehi, Utah, attending his workshops several times a year. With the move back to Moapa she began to specialize in fine art.  Her favorite subject is religious art She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others through the workshops she offers.

Last November, she participated in the International Art Association’s Artist (IAA) Showcase.  The IAA is dedicated to promoting different forms of inspirational art.  For the last few years, it has been held beneath the beautiful rotunda in the Utah State Capital Building.  Beginning with a formal gala, including dinner and a keynote speaker, a private VIP show was held.  Invited Collectors were allowed first viewing of the art provided by the thirty-one artists present. The next few days were open to the public.  This was a fantastic and rewarding experience for the artists because they could interact with the public and enjoy the camaraderie with the other artists.
